GLC Calendar of Events

As the Easter Season enters, we're sure many of you are making final plans for the upcoming Holy Festival and Rejoicing in knowing that "He is Risen!"

But don't let the Holy season go by too fast! Take time out for yourselves to reflect and remember those who are ill or need a prayer of support. GLC offers the following activities for you and the Georgetown community to enjoy this time of year.

ENSEMBLE ULYSSE RETURNS! - March 16
Members of the Foggy Bottom/Georgetown community, the Ensemble are eager to bring music to our neighbors, and so they oversaw the creation of a chamber music group, the Ensemble Ulysse. This group stems forth from the desire to perform chamber music written for varied instrumentation, and includes musicians from around the globe, brought together by a deep personal commitment to music-making and a common perspective on the present state and future direction of our art. As a goal we seek to create gripping, meaningful, and yet approachable performances outside of the limitations of a group such as a string quartet. This season, the Ensemble and GLC are indeed fortunate to have the Ensemble in-residence at Georgetown Lutheran Church, which offers a great location, nice acoustics, and an overall warm and welcoming atmosphere for our group.

Yes, GLC now has a church service nursery and child care service, so you can attend our Holy services with confidence and know that your child is safe and watched over in our Nursery. The room is brightly painted and furnished to provide a nutruing and caring place so you and your family may worship with peace of mind and assurance for the care of your children. Please stop in and have a look around or call and ask for additional details.

KITCHEN REMODELLED!
The end of an era came to GLC. Our old kitchen was demolished and replaced with a brand new kitchen and stove in time for the Thanksgiving Eve Dinner on November 21. And there are a few minor things that still need finished, so contributions to the kitchen fund are still very much appreciated. To make a contribution, send your check, made out to Georgetown Lutheran Building Fund, to 1556 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20007.

ALTAR VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Altar Guild is looking for a "few good friends" to sign up for volunteer opportunities for upcoming services. If you are available and willing to serve, you may respond to Cindy DeGrood Morrison.

COLLEGE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, WE NEED YOUR HELP! - Are you a local student, or a student studying locally? GLC is looking for your help, and want you to feel welcome in a "home away from home." We have plenty of volunteer opportunities for upcoming services, or if you are interested we sponsor many vounteer community and church oriented activities. If you are a musician, then we despirately would enjoy your addition to our services. So come and join us at any of our church services, and mention your interest to help to Pastor Gaines. We'd like to say hello and welcome you to the GLC family.

Have you heard some of the neighborhood gossip about GLC? - Fortunately, it's all good! If you hear something or a piece of trivia, please share it with Pastor Gaines. Or, if you are someone who is interested in GLC from the neighborhood, we invite you to stop into GLC to meet with Pastor Gaines during normal office hours - or better yet, come to one of our services on Sunday Morning. (Oh, btw, our dress code is very relaxed - because if you're not comfortable, neither are we.) And we appreciate our local neighbors, and hope that we serve as a place of community pride, as well as a respected place of worship in your community.
