Book talk May 15 - 6pm - The Big Relief - The Urgency of Grace for a Worn-Out World

Join Pastor Brett and others at a book talk with author David Zahl (who also wrote Low Anthropology, which we recommend and read last year), at a book talk at All Saints Episcopal Church, 3 Chevy Chase Circle, 6:00-7:30pm on Thursday, May 15. Zahl will discuss his new book, The Big Relief - The Urgency of Grace for a Worn-Out World, which was recently released. This summer (after we have time to read), we'll have some GLC book group discussions on the book in person and on Zoom.

Bible Study Thursday Nights

Weekly Bible study continues on Zoom, Thursday evenings, 7:30-8:30pm. Each week we read scriptures for the coming Sunday (or perhaps other texts) - feel free to drop in whenever you're able. You'll learn, wonder, and explore the scriptures with us.  Find the zoom link  HERE.  We'll continue weekly until the Bonhoeffer study begins on 5/29, which will be in the same time slot.

Five Week Study: Lessons from Dietrich Bonhoeffer in a House Divided and a World on Fire
Starting May 29

Join us for a five-week study, with an excellent curriculum from Lutheran Advocacy Ministry of Pennsylvania, scholars, and additional curated materials from Pastor Brett. Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a Lutheran German pastor who was known for his resistance to the Nazi regime and writings on spiritual life and theology. You'll learn history, theology, reflect on the past and present, scripture, and your own life and faith response. We'll meet Thursday nights, starting May 29,  at 7:30pm on Zoom  HERE and possibly have a couple Sunday morning/after church options if there's interest - speak with Pastor Brett

Little Lutherans and Sunday School

Little Lutherans and Sunday School for little ones through middle school meets every 2nd and 4th Sunday.  We're shifting models and looking for parents or other interested adults to help with Sunday School - speak with Pastor if interested/able.

We meet on May 11 and May 25

Study Guides & Resources

On our Read & Explore Faith page there are a few blog entries on various topics, which also point in the direction of further resources. We've also (just) started a Goodreads page to share reviews of different books - detail here.
Early in the summer we had two one-session topic studies - on topics which, given current events, our wider church has encouraged us to study our denomination's statements and faith perspective/resources on.  Pastor Brett created a study guide for self study or learning more about each topic: Abortion and Community Violence.
